Along with our primary school education from senior infants to 6th class, The Glebe Primary Montessori School offer the government ECCE scheme for preschool children. Our children come from the Lucan, Leixlip, Maynooth Celbridge and surrounding areas. The children enrolled on the scheme for the 2012/2013 term will get Drama with George McMahon (aka Mondo from Fair City) Spanish lessons with our spanish teacher Flo and also our outing to the panto at christmas at no additional cost to parents. Our ECCE scheme operates from 9am to 12pm with the option to enrol your child in workshops from 12pm to 12.30pm per day for which parents pay a small fee.

Glebe receives thumbs up from councellors on planning

The Glebe Primary Montessori School has received the unanimous support of the councellors of Kildare County Council for their proposed new building on the Maynooth Road in Celbridge.

The councellours voted in favour of the material contravention which allows the zoning of the proposed site to be rezoned for educational purposes.

The proposed new school for the Glebe Primary Montessori School is at an advanced stage. It is anticipated that Kildare County Council will give the project the green light in the coming weeks. The new school will be located beside Croudaun on the Maynooth Road in Celbridge. To mark the occasion Dragons Den Dragon and Presidential Candidate Sean Gallagher will perform a tree planting on the site on Thursday 6^th October 2011 at 2pm. Click here for the full press release

Republic of Ireland Football Team Sign A Soccer Ball to Fundraise for the Glebe Montessori School

Republic of Ireland Manager Giovanni Trapattoni and members of the Irish football team have given the Glebe school a signed football and it’s up for auction on the 27th May at Harold’s Cross greyhound stadium. Well known actor George McMahon teaches drama and dance at the Glebe

Most well known for his role in Fair City George McMahon aka “Mondo” is currently teaching drama and dance classes at the Glebe. We are very excited to have George as part of the programme we offer at the Glebe. The children love his classes and the older classes are putting together a performance for the year end concert.

Glebe Fundraising night at the Dogs in Harolds Cross

Don’t forget that the Glebe will have a

“Night at the Dogs”

At Harolds Cross track on Friday, 27th May 2011 from 6.30pm-10pm.

Tickets are €20 and admit 2 adults their children.

The kids are looking forward to the bouncy castles and face-painting (huge thanks to Jessica and Hazel for offering to do the face-painting).

We have sold our first international ticket to the event and a special spot prize on the night goes to whoever guesses correctly what country he lives in!

We don’t actually expect him to turn up on the night, but it shows the power of facebook – so if each parent would share it with their facebook, twitter or linked-in friends it could have a powerful effect. To make it easy there is a short paragraph below that you can copy and paste.

Montessori Education Provides Better Outcomes than Traditional Methods, Study Indicates

A study comparing outcomes of children at a public inner-city Montessori school with children who attended traditional schools indicates that Montessori education leads to children with better social and academic skills.

The study appears in the Sept. 29, 2006 issue of the journal Science.

Lorna’s class visited the Village at Lyons as their prize for the class with the most mobile phones collected for the first term of “Phones for Bricks”

They spent an afternoon with chef Clodagh McKenna at her cookery school making fresh pasta and basil pesto. Great fun was had by all.

First Confession

Well done to all of the children who made their fist confession today, in preparation for their first holy communion. Fr Douglas commented on how well prepared the children are and how well educated the children are and paid compliment to Sinead for her hard work with all the children. He also complimented the parents and the choir.
